Spreading the Love

Last night we went to Lark St in Albany to evangelize in the streets. We watched a video before hand to learn better ways to evangelize and share the Gospel to people, but we didn't like their suggestions because it lacked the element of LOVE. So our team decided to just ask people if they wanted any prayer. We were still really shy and uncomfortable, but Ray who was with us was bold and just went up to people and talked to them and handed them a track. (a small booklet that has scriptures on it to lead people to Christ) So he was all bold and we were not. But then I got a sudden splurge of energy and asked this drunk guy if he wanted prayer and he said "No but do you have a dollar?" I said "well no but I can pray that you get a dollar" He said "okay but pray for the world to get better" So I prayed over him right then and there saying, "Lord, I thank you for this man, and I know that his destiny is in your hands and that he is going to see promotion in his life. Lord thank you for loving him and dieing for him. I love him and we thank you" The guy was really touched and he kissed my hand. It was precious but felt gross later. Then we prayed for another guy right by him.

Caleb also talked to a guy and the guy said that we Christians hate him because he's a jew but Caleb said, "No man we love you." and they hugged eachother and the guy was really touched. Then Ray talked to this other guy who just knew that we were there to sell him something, but Ray just talked to him for a long time and softened his heart, assuring him that not all Christians were stale and cold. We walked pass that guy a few minutes later and he said to us, "God Bless" which was really good because that means he knows we were just out there to love him.

One of the other teams talked to a lady for 30 minutes and she was appauled that they had no agenda, nothing to sell and just wanted to love her. They said they felt good about the outcome of that encounter.

In this ministry we're taught to love on people and show them God's love. I think Christians have done a crappy job of showing Christ's love to people and its a shame that we have to clean up the mess other Christians have left behind. Our leader said that he's been doing this for a long time (evangelizing) and he says the best way is to be relational. Show them that your different and have a component that they can't find in themselves. They'll wonder what that is and that's when you can share your faith.

Love your neighbor as yourself
Love eachother as I have loved you. John 15:12
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
Love covers a multitude of sins

With that I love all of you!
